  Nodules of Thyroid Gland

Description:

Sometimes thyroid gland enlarges, leading to appearing of one or more nodules. A big part of these solid or liquid nodules are benignant and do not cause symptoms. Some nodules enlarge too much and press against larynx and oesophagi leading to difficulties in swallowing and breathing. Most of the thyroid nodules don't cause symptoms. Some of them get so big, you can feel and see at the basis of throat. Sometimes men feel these nodules, because the collar of the sheet gets tight. The big nodules can lead to:

  • Tightening of the throat
  • Difficult swallowing
  • Difficult breathing


Some nodules produce too much thyroxin - hormone of thyroid gland. Increased thyroxin causes the following symptoms:
  • Sudden and unclear reduction of the body weight
  • Nervousness
